Dealing with "Bad Teeth": Advice

I have always envied those around me who seem to always have perfect smiles without even trying, because I feel like I was born with "bad teeth." While my teeth are in great shape now, it is only because I take great care to visit the dentist every six months for a check-up and cleaning and maintain good oral hygiene habits at home. While I used to get a lot of cavities, even though I thought I was doing "everything right" to keep them away, I am proud to say that I have been cavity-free for a couple of years now! I put a lot of research into what daily habits can wreak havoc on my teeth, and I thought it would be a shame not to share what has helped me with others who need the advice. I plan to post many oral health tips on my new blog!

How To Have A Perfect Smile For Senior Photos

Dentist Blog

Getting your senior photo taken in high school is a rite of passage on the way to graduation. Everyone wants their graduation photos to look perfect. They'll be recorded in social media and yearbooks, so nobody wants to have a major flaw on their face in their final high school photos. If you're worried that your teeth don't look their best but think that there's no way to fix it in time for your photos, the good news is that there is. Learn how you can get started now and have perfect looking teeth by the time your photos are taken.

Dental Veneers

Traditionally, fixing problems like crookedness, overcrowding, and unevenly-sized teeth requires braces and even full dental work. Braces can take a long time to achieve a great looking smile, so they're obviously not an option if your pictures will be taken in a month or two. Thankfully, dental veneers can get the job done in that amount of time.

Dental veneers are thin porcelain sheets that cover individual teeth. They look and feel like real teeth and can be put in place so that your entire smile looks even, straight, and white. Best of all, they only take one dental visit to have adhered to your teeth, and typically only two visits overall to set them up.

Planning Stage

Your first visit to your dentist's office will be the planning stage for your veneers. Your dentist will examine your teeth and listen to what your particular goals for the look of your smile is. Your dentist will show you veneer samples so you can see how much they look and feel like real teeth.

Once you've decided what you want, your dentist will show you a series of shades of white on veneers. The color you choose is up to you. If you plan to wear makeup for your photo, consider bringing it with you so you can see which shade of veneers works best with it.

Once the choices are all made, your dentist will send an order in to a veneer manufacturer with your information. The veneers will be made just for you and sent to your dentist's office.

Application Process

As soon as the veneers have arrived at your dentist's office, you will be able to have them applied. The process is simple: your dentist will clean your teeth and then attach the veneers one by one with professional dental adhesive. There's no drilling required, and your teeth will look perfect as soon as the procedure is done. You won't have to limit the kinds of food that you eat or even worry about speaking weirdly. You should barely be able to tell that you even have veneers except for the fact that your smile became fabulous overnight.

Veneers can make a senior photo go from good to great. Don't hide your teeth when you take your senior photo - visit your dentist to get your teeth looking as good as you'll feel when you graduate. For more information, contact a company like Rupp and Grabowski Family Dentistry.
