Dealing with "Bad Teeth": Advice

I have always envied those around me who seem to always have perfect smiles without even trying, because I feel like I was born with "bad teeth." While my teeth are in great shape now, it is only because I take great care to visit the dentist every six months for a check-up and cleaning and maintain good oral hygiene habits at home. While I used to get a lot of cavities, even though I thought I was doing "everything right" to keep them away, I am proud to say that I have been cavity-free for a couple of years now! I put a lot of research into what daily habits can wreak havoc on my teeth, and I thought it would be a shame not to share what has helped me with others who need the advice. I plan to post many oral health tips on my new blog!

What Can You Do At A Family Dental Clinic?

Choosing a dental practice for your oral care needs can be tricky, especially when you have so many options. People with families may enjoy the perks offered by family dentists. Family dentists are practitioners who can help people of a range of ages and those with a number of different dental problems. Here are some things you can do at a family dental clinic:

1. Bring your children

The family dental clinic is the perfect place for every member of your family. Family dentists can work with kids of any age, so you won't have to take your children to a special pediatric dentist. The ability to get your entire family's dental care taken care of at one time can free up your schedule. Family dental clinics offer comfortable waiting rooms where other members of your family can wait their turn to see the dentist. Seeing the dentist together as a family can be a bonding experience that encourages good dental habits for life.

2. Keep up with your routine dental care

It's important to take care of dental problems as they arise, but most of the dental care you receive in your life will probably be preventative routine care. Seeing your dentist for checkups every four to six months is an important part of taking care of your teeth. A family dental clinic will give you a place to go for all your checkups. Many family dental clinics will even send reminders to their patients when it's time to schedule a new dentist's appointment so you'll never forget.

3. Fix old and new dental problems

Family dentists also offer restorative dental services. Whether you've had cavities and other dental problems for a while and never gotten the chance to take care of it, or you've just discovered new dental problems, a family dentist can help. Your dentist can drill away decay, replace old fillings, perform root canal therapy, and more. Your family dentist can restore your mouth to good health no matter what condition it is currently in.

4. Get a consultation for cosmetic services

Family dentists can also provide cosmetic services, such as teeth whitening and Invisalign. If you'd like to improve your smile, you can talk to your dentist about making cosmetic changes to your teeth. Family dentists can offer consultation services to their patients, which will allow you and your dentist to agree on a treatment plan for your teeth.
