Dealing with "Bad Teeth": Advice

I have always envied those around me who seem to always have perfect smiles without even trying, because I feel like I was born with "bad teeth." While my teeth are in great shape now, it is only because I take great care to visit the dentist every six months for a check-up and cleaning and maintain good oral hygiene habits at home. While I used to get a lot of cavities, even though I thought I was doing "everything right" to keep them away, I am proud to say that I have been cavity-free for a couple of years now! I put a lot of research into what daily habits can wreak havoc on my teeth, and I thought it would be a shame not to share what has helped me with others who need the advice. I plan to post many oral health tips on my new blog!

Dealing With Broken Dentures? 4 Reasons To Get Them Repaired Right Away

Dentist Blog

If you wear dentures, they're an important part of your dental health. Dentures help you maintain your smile. They also allow you to chew and speak naturally. Over time, dentures may need adjustments due to changes in the shape of your jaw. But, they may also need repairs due to accidental damage. If you've been postponing repairs to your dentures, or you didn't know you could repair your dentures, read the list below. Here are four reasons why you should take your dentures in for repairs.

Maintain Appearance

When you lose your permanent teeth, you can also lose your self-confidence. Dentures help restore your lost self-confidence and self-esteem. Unfortunately, broken dentures can diminish your appearance. That's especially true if the damage is noticeable. One way to restore your self-esteem is to get your dentures repaired as soon as you spot damage. In most cases, dentures can get repaired on the same day. That means you won't be without your smile for long.

Protect Oral Health

If your dentures are broken, you need to worry about your oral health. You might not realize it, but broken dentures can harm your oral health. Broken dentures can cut the inside of your mouth. Those cuts can cause pain and infection. Broken dentures can also interfere with your ability to chew. That can lead to nutritional problems. Plus, if you can't chew properly, you could swallow food that's too big. That can increase your risk of choking. Protect your health. Get your dentures repaired right away.

Prevent Poor Fit

If you have broken dentures, they're not going to fit right. Poor-fitting dentures can affect the way you speak. Broken dentures can also rub the wrong way on your gums. When that happens, you can experience gum pain. That's why you should repair your dentures right away. Fixing your dentures will help restore the fit. That way, you can avoid the pain associated with gum sores. And, your speech will be restored.

Save Money

If you haven't gotten your dentures repaired yet, it's time to think about your time and money. If your dentures stay broken for too long, you might need to replace them instead. Unfortunately, denture replacements cost a lot more than denture repairs. Plus, dentures take longer to replace. That means you'll spend more time without your dentures. Save time and money. Have a dentist repair your dentures as soon as possible.
